The SoL program – a community-based, multi-setting health promotion intervention among families with young children in two Danish municipalities.
Creating impact and intensity across multiple settings and using multiple intervention components is a challenge in health promotion in local communities. Against this background the SoL program was developed by a cross-disciplinary research team in cooperation with local community stakeholders. The SoL program is a controlled intervention study targeting healthy eating and sedentary behaviour among children aged 3-8 years and their families carried out in 6 villages in 2 rural local communities in the capital region of eastern Denmark. The program acts through a setting based approach with supermarkets, schools, kindergartens and the media as primary intervention channels.
