DR's program 'Spild af dine penge' ('A waste of your money')(in danish) looks at waste of public money. The program sent on Tuesday September 28, was among other things focusing on food waste. Based on an estimation made by Bent Egberg Mikkelsen of data within purchases and labor costs there is occuring food waste of DKK 1-2 billion.

Big amounts of food goes straight in the bin and 40-45 percent of the raw food items there are bought for the public institutions is ending up as waste. Thus the background of the program.
